Bringing Linux to the Masses
1-Because it comes “free” with your laptop and you might as well use it. Just like that Britney Spears single that was bundled with your CD player.
2-Money is no object to you. No problem just fork out $500, for 10% of the features you actually need. After all you can’t put a label on “quality”
3-Installing a new program is no challenge for someone like you. It merely requires enough determination to stick with it. After Next Next Next the Finish will eventually come. And hey you got a load of other “freebies” too!
4-You blindly trust corporate America, if Microsoft thinks an update is good for you then they must be right, after all they created the damn thing.
5-You are a conformist. Your idea of a perfect desktop is just like the next guy. Your taskbar should be blue and at the bottom, just like everybody else.
6-There is no problem you can’t fix. A weekly reinstall keeps everything snappy.
7-You are the ultimate born tweaker. Once you even changed the “start” on the Start menu to your name!
8-You are a “perfectionist”, an OS should take at least 7 years to develop.
9-You are a daredevil! You strive on fighting and warding off viruses.
10-You are fond of the color blue! After any new hardware installation or system tweak, you appreciate being greeted with blue screens.
Thanks to numerodix for helping me compiling this list.
Royal HeHe2-ness is a world where free software is valued, nay sought for!! While proprietary software is banished, degraded and ridiculed till the end of times.

At least, on Windows you pay once and then you get all the service packs for free… On the other side, with OS X, you have to pay $129 for each “update” (yes I meant update and not upgrade)
Of course, Linux is free.

@”Wow”, mac is just as bad as windo$e, man. Use something real, like Debian linux.

View from a Common PC user #3. Yes silly windows letting you decide how and where to install a file.
#4 unless you are a computer science major you have to trust corporate America. Good thing Macintosh isn’t a corporation. Make your own clothes do ya? #5 maybe I grew out of the “look at me I’m different and unique” phase and stopped trying to shock or impress people. I just want an OS i know how to use #7 if we are talking OS straight out of the box w/ out DL’s then limits can be placed even on Linux but w/ DL’s then anything can be tweaked. #8 let me know when you and your friends release your OS, next week is good for me. But I guess if you OS is outdated in a year you would be in a hurry but XP is ok for me.#9 the common user is just learning how to get online, you want them to understand how to fight a virus. I think your expectations are set a bit to high. #10 I can’t say much about this I’ve only seen the SOD twice. Of course I’ve only been playing w/ computers since ‘97. Maybe I’m just lucky.
Not trying to be an ass but when it comes to windows hating you need to understand not everyone is as smart with PC’s as you are and until they are Windows will force it’s way into your life. I left out 6 because I don’t get it. I try to format once a year, to get rid of porn. I like everything about linux except how smart it asks me to be. Would you prefer to teach your grandmother Windows or Linux? Sorry about the long post.
