Linux and Sex: Debunking the Myth
16May2008 Filed under: Humor Author: Rami TaibahFor some reason beyond me, Linux is almost synonymous with “anti-sex”. I still don’t fully understand from where this notion came from. While I admit that there are some rotten apples out there:
But these people are just giving us a bad name! I mean I am sure anybody could find a dorky doctor, or a nerdy lawyer! Yet these men with these professions are in high demand. You don’t see anybody using sweeping statements on a whole profession just because they met a dorky doctor.
Women need to understand that geek is good! And Linux is the sexy! Want proof? Here you go:
Us Linux geeks thrive on documentation, and we even documented our own kama sutra!
We also have all the right moves, we know what to say, when to say it, and how to say it!
Now after all this proof, ladies, do you still have doubt in your minds (or hearts) that we are the perfect match. You keep searching for the “one”, whilst this “one” is probably just waiting at your “./” all along!

The term Linux is derived from Linus Torvalds its creator. He married a 6-time Finnish national karate champion, so it’s proof Linux affiliation is not “anti-sex”.

I wouldn’t say that linux, or any OS in general are “synonymous with anti-sex… While it’s fun to continually portray this type of behavior (hence the necessity for 250 does not apply to digg users jokes for every front page story featuring women or sex) — I live in a far different reality. Having been in the industry for over 13 years now I’ve seen my fair share of super nerds that don’t get a bunch of play, but there are plenty of those working at home depot and waffle house too. The overwhelming majority of folks I’ve met in the IT field are bright and interesting folks that have reasonable, if not “better than average” quality of life including relationships, marriage or otherwise.
Sure, it’s fun to play the uber-geeks don’t get any play card but the reality is far from the (self perpetuated) perception.

Using Linux, and not some common OS can be impressive. Impressive can be a means to having sex.

I’m married to a Linux Guru and I think it’s sexy. Although, he does totally fit the stereotype of a guy who has no idea how to talk to girls.

It is not that anything related to Linux is anti-sex, it is that being associated with Linux is “anti-sex with anybody else other than yourself with a lot of porn torrents and free internet port viewed through open source tools”. I’m spent.

Linux users are most often assholes, but not the kind that ladies are normally attracted to. Many of them are too self centered and egotistical to even care about sex in the first place, viewing it as something for people who can’t control their urges. Looking down on people becomes part of their lifestyle, so they reap what the sow in the end.

I’ve been a Linux geek for 15 years and I’ve gotten more than my fare share of whatever I wanted. Now I’m getting married. She’s smokin’ hot, very smart, a lot of fun, and she is right next to me as I type this using her Linux laptop running pidgin to IM with her friends.

So anyone who says Linux guys don’t get laid are crazy.
