Rami Taibah Author of Royal HeHe2-nessI’m Rami Taibah the owner and lone writer of hehe2.net aka Royal HeHe2-ness. You are probably wondering “hehe2 what?”. Well first of all it’s pronounced just like “hehe” but with the sound of the screeching rubber tires on an Arizona highway on a scorching hot summer. Go ahead try saying it, it feels good ;)

What does it mean? It’s a the sound of a mildly irritating smirk or a mischievous grin, so if you see (or hear) me “hehe2-ing” then be ready to be irritated!

My first realization of Linux was back in 1997, back then I was a pimpled face teenager who just got exposed to computers and the Internet. I wanted to be a “1337 HaXoR”, but every guide (as if such a guide exists!) kept pointing me to something called Linux, which was totally alien to me back then. The fact that the only means of connection was dial up doomed me to Windows 95.

Around 2003 I got my hands on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 Linux CD’s, I vividly remember the butterflies in my stomach when I first saw the installer pop on my screen (Anaconda?) After the install finished I was up for a major disappointment, the modem didn’t work (I was still on dial up in 2003 mind you). That pretty much ended that adventure.

On a slow Thursday morning 2 years later, I decided to go to a local supermarket for some refreshments. Over at the magazine stand I found a Linux Format magazine with Suse Linux 5 bundled, excitingly I picked it up (didn’t really care about the $25 price tag) and rushed back home. Without giving it a second thought I popped it onto my desktop and started the installer, not caring much for my XP OS. 2 hours later I was on a beautiful KDE desktop. W00T!!

Did I end up being a “1337 HaXoR”? Well hardly. Linux gave me something even better. The freedom to tinker, tweak, and hack away on my own system. It gave me the realization that the sky is the limit, nothing is impossible. It gave me countless of friends that I would’ve never have bonded with if it weren’t for Linux. Instead of the tunnel vision I had back in my Windows days, it gave me peripheral vision. And it gave me this blog! Thank you Linux! :)
